A couple of months ago, we had a fantastic day here at Brighter Futures and now we’re even more excited because our new clubhouse is officially up and running! To celebrate, we teamed up with our amazing partners Urban Health UK for a coffee morning, open to the public, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
And what a day it was! The sun was shining, the cakes were beautiful (and delicious) and the community spirit was brilliant. Our plot holders and learners really pulled out all the stops, donating heaps of homegrown produce and baking an array of cakes. Meanwhile, our volunteers worked behind the scenes to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Thanks to everyone who came along, baked, donated or simply helped out, we raised over £460 on the day, with even more coming in through online donations for Macmillan.
It was a perfect reminder of why our allotment and clubhouse mean so much, it’s not just about growing plants, it’s about growing community, friendships and making a real difference. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our incredible volunteers, learners and local community.
A massive thank you to everyone who helped make this day so special. We can’t wait to welcome even more people into our clubhouse in the future!
