We had a great couple of days when our new log cabin was built at our Walton Park allotments. It’s been such an exciting project and we couldn’t have done it without some incredible people lending a hand, with a bit of hard graft, laughs and plenty of tea!
Huge shoutout to the volunteers from PXC and TalkTalk who turned up, rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in. From painting panels to slotting the walls into place, they helped turn a pile of timber into something real and fast. Honestly, watching everyone work together was brilliant.
This whole project wouldn’t have kicked off without veteran Mike Gleeson, who kindly donated the cabin, so massive thanks to him. And we can’t forget Kev O’Toole, the driving force behind the whole build, who not only helped lead the charge but also donated the paint to finish it off.
But it’s more than just a lovely bit of woodwork. The cabin will be a proper little hub for the allotment, a place for workshops, volunteer catch-ups, cosy chats and all the bits and bobs that make our sessions feel like a community. Picture recipe sittings, seed sorting, planning meet-ups and shelter from a sudden shower.
Big thanks to everyone who helped! It’s a great reminder of what can happen when people come together for something positive.
